The House of Ruth collaborates with community partners to support families and individuals in Junction City and surrounding areas. We provide essential services such as distributing new coats to children during winter, offering meals for families and seniors, supplying snacks for students, and donating hygiene products to both the school district and homeless residents.

Meet our founder

Linda Gibson is the founder and the Director of The House of Ruth a non-profit organization in Junction City, Kansas in May 2021. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2012, and she felt commissioned by the Heavenly Father to open The House of Ruth. The House of Ruth will be a home for homeless women with children; and a home for homeless women who are reentering society from prison. The House of Ruth will be a home that will help restore relationships with their families. Linda relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 2017 to return to work for the Ohio Department of Corrections. The House of Ruth was birthed in Dayton, Ohio. Linda went back to work for the Ohio Department of Corrections with the mindset to remain obedient to the commission her Heavenly Father had placed on her heart. She began researching homeless women.Linda petitioned the State of Ohio to open The House of Ruth in 2020 in Dayton, Ohio; and the petition to open The House of Ruth was approved. However, due to the arrival of the 2020 Covid19 pandemic and the loss of close family members who passed away in November and December of 2020 Linda decided to return to Kansas in February 2021. Upon Linda’s return to Kansas, it was her plan to continue with to be obedient, and petitioned the State of Kansas to open The House of Ruth in Junction City, Kansas where Linda now resides. It is her goal to provide a home to homeless women and to empower, encourage, and assist homeless women in obtaining the tools they need to gain their independence and become self-sufficient.Linda Gibson is a co-author of a book titled From Mother with Love,
“Letters to Our Sons.” She is the daughter of Linda Vinson of Junction City, KS, and mother of three children, Prophetess Ashley Witcher (Minister Danjuan Witcher Sr.) of Powder Springs Georgia, Linda Dunaway, and Darryl Perry. Linda is also the proud grandmother of Anthony Casey and Va’Sean Casey of Powder Springs Georgia, Jayden Perry, and JaVaughn Perry of Junction City, Kansas. She enjoys going to church, traveling to see her grandkids, spending time with her friends, and family and doing community service work with other organizations within her community.
